Our Sustainability Initiatives

Energy efficiency is an important part of the Jack Resnick & Sons culture, which is evidenced by their efforts to implement sustainable initiatives across its portfolio, including:

  • Smart Metering in commercial office buildings such as 110 East 59th Street, One Seaport Plaza (199 Water Street), 485 Madison Avenue, and 250 Hudson Street. This technology identifies energy cost saving opportunities for improved building operations. Recent applications include identifying and finding methods to reduce high peak electric demand.
  • Capital improvement measures at various buildings include lighting retrofits; installation of high-efficiency chiller plants; fuel oil to natural gas heating plant and conversions; upgraded Building Management Systems; and the installation of variable frequency drives (VFD's) to control the building's mechanical systems.
  • Green Roofs at 250 Hudson Street & Symphony House (235 West 56th Street) improve stormwater discharge control and, in addition to White Roofs on several buildings, reduce the City's heat island effect.
  • Community efforts include commuter bicycle racks at several office buildings; Green Guidelines for office cleaning contractors; and annual donations to The Central Park Conservancy towards the maintenance of native landscapes.
